St. Vincent is back. On Thursday last week, the singer born Annie Clark announced her new album, All Born Screaming, and shared the LP’s first single “Broken Man.”

All Born Screaming, due out April 26 via Virgin Music Group and St. Vincent’s first album since 2021’s Daddy’s Home, also marks Clark’s first self-produced LP.

“On the street i’m a kingsize killer / I can make your kingdom come / On my feet I’m an earthquake shaking / So open up my little one,” St. Vincent sings on the opening verse before unleashing the big guitars before the second verse. “Hey what are you looking at / Who the hell do you think I am / What are you looking at / Like you never seen a broken man.”

The Alex Da Corte-directed visual sees St. Vincent delivering the single alone in the room before she literally bursts into flames, an image that also features on All Born Screaming‘s album cover.

“There are some places, emotionally, that you can only get to by taking the long walk into the woods alone—to find out what your heart is really saying,” Clark said in a statement about her upcoming album. “It sounds real because it is real.”

For the album, Clark worked with a group of “highly curated group” of collaborators that include Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Josh Freese, Rachel Eckroth, Mark Guiliana, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Stella Mogzawa, David Ralicke, and Cate Le Bon, who features on All Born Screaming’s album-closing title track.

The LP is available to preorder now.
